For the third year in a row, year 12 Workplace Practices students travelled to the Ekka to volunteer at the iconic strawberry sundae stalls. This year our students were one of 2,800 volunteers who helped chop strawberries, wash dishes, scoop ice cream, operate the cream gun, and of course serve up delicious strawberry sundae treats to Ekka customers.
The day not only contributed towards students meeting course requirements by gaining valuable work experience, but also broadened their understanding of real world business practices, all whilst supporting a great cause, the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation. In fact, this year the Ekka strawberry sundae stalls helped raise more than $160,000 for world class medical research which will help save and improve the lives of millions of Queenslanders living with chronic disease.
On behalf of the Business/IT faculty, Mr Stout would like to thank all students who attended the excursion and to Ms Kerr and Mr Hislop for their support on the day. Certificates of appreciation were issued to students on assembly in week 10.
