2017 Christmas in July

Wow what an event!  I know we say it every year, but I’m about to say it again.  This year was the best Christmas in July event that the Hospitality Department has ever done.  Each year we up the ante and we achieve the goals that we set for ourselves.
The theme of the Year 12 restaurant was ‘Scandi’ Christmas and the venue was styled by a team of people led by Charlene Sprott.  Many of the decorations were handmade and included intricate details.  The guests certainly noted the time and effort that had gone into everything they saw.  Thanks also to ‘Super’ Ron Collins our Master Builder for bringing Charlene’s ideas to fruition, yet again.
The menu was expertly selected by Hospitality teachers Narelle Keegan and Michelle Sheppard and included a few of our old favourite dishes. Kristen Bright produced the lovely gingerbread reindeer take-home gifts with her talented team of student cooks. The amazing food was produced by a huge team of students and staff, ranging from Year 9 through to Year 12.  The Year 9 students were invited to take part in what has become one of the school’s prestige events on the social calendar, as they had showed potential in their Food Studies class in Semester 1.
Months of planning goes into events such as these and without the ongoing support of many other staff from departments within the school, families, local businesses and students, these types of events would never get off the ground. Bring on Christmas in July 2018!
