Six Year 12 Business students took part in the QUT Student Business Competition held at the Caboolture HUB on Thursday, May 1 2014.
For the competition, students were asked to develop a marketing plan to help increase attendance of 13 to 20 year olds to the annual Urban Country Music Festival held in Caboolture. Students were then required to present their proposal to a panel of industry professionals.
The ideas recommended by our students were simple, but practical and included a change in pricing strategy to accommodate different income levels, increase usage of social media platforms to attract the target market, and employment of additional security to ensure the safety of minors attending the event.
The judges were particularly impressed with Tullawong’s level of research and analysis of the case study, and the council is looking to implement some of the ideas suggested.
The day was of great benefit to students as they learned new skills in Marketing and also gave them a taste of life on a university campus. The team of Year 12 BCT students included: Ebony Hibbs, Janelle Smith, Tia Leong, Chelsea Cochrane, Samantha Fox-Hegarty, and Daniel Warner.
The Awards Night was recently held on Thursday May 8 and students received participation certificates and plaques. In a very competitive field of public, private high schools and colleges, our students won second prize! What a fantastic effort by our students. The final result was extremely close and there is no doubt that our students excelled in all areas of the competition. Congratulations to all students involved in the competition.
