Attendance - Every Day Counts
Students are expected to have 100% attendance throughout the school year unless there are extenuating circumstances, which are supported by appropriate documentation.
Good attendance and success at school go hand in hand. It is expected that students who are absent from school make up the work they miss. Students should only be absent from school because of illness or bereavement. Where possible, all appointments should be made out of school time. Parents are asked to comply with the following requests when their students are absent:
- Telephone the school's absence line on 5428 5285 and inform us of the circumstances of the absence;
- Respond via text to the SMS message sent by the school for student absence; or
- Enter an attendance note/approval on the compass portal.
It is the student's responsibility to collect any work they have missed during their absence.
It is a requirement that time is made up for truancy. Please note that it is a requirement of student financial support, e.g. Youth Allowance, that students maintain an 85% attendance.
Late Arrivals
Students have a responsibility to be punctual at all times. Students arriving after 8.30am must report to the office for a late slip, so that their attendance can be recorded. Students will be issued with a detention if the school is not contacted by parent/caregiver.
